WEST TIGERS VISIT MARY IMMACULATE

Screen shot 2012-02-27 at 12.14.12 PM

On Monday, the 13th of February, two very special visitors came to Mary Immaculate to talk to years three, four, five and six about Rugby League Reading. The special guests who came to visit us were Chris Lawrence and James Tedesco from the West Tigers Football Club.
As the first player walked into the room all the children cheered and clapped, it was evident there were a lot of West Tigers supporters in the room. It was a big surprise to everyone, no one had any idea that they were coming.
Other than Chris and James a team from the Rugby League Reading program came as well. They were there to teach us that anyone can play football no matter if you’re a boy or a girl.
A lady from the St Andrews and Eagle Vale Football Club came to visit us too. She told us all about how you can do anything if you put one hundred percent into what you’re doing. She also gave us some information which had all the details of the St Andrews and Eagle Vale Football Club.
The team from the Rugby League Reading Program also told us that reading is important and you should read every day. Chris Lawrence and James Tedesco told us about what they used to read when they were in primary school and what they read now. They told us how it was crucial to read even if you want to be a football player. We watched some victory highlights and whenever West Tigers scored a try everyone clapped and cheered.
The visitors from the Rugby League Reading Program asked questions about books that Chris and James used to read. If a student answered the question correctly they would win a prize and have it signed by the players.

Towards the end of presentation we got to ask the football players question. Some of the students won a prize and also had it signed by the players.
At the end, ten lucky students were able to take a picture with Chris Lawrence and James Tedesco. Lucky me I was one of those students.
We have been very fortunate that Chris Lawrence and James Tedesco took time out of their busy schedule to come visit us and teach us that reading is important.

GO WEST TIGERS!
